It's Not Too Late to Straighten Your Smile!
A properly aligned smile can help aid in chewing, speaking, oral and physical health and don't forget confidence. Orthodontics have come a long way from the 'mouth full of metal' you may remember.
Traditional braces consisted of a steel band that went around each individual tooth like a ring. The wire that pulled the teeth into line was attached to a little bracket that was on the front of the steel bands.
Our modern orthodontic treatment has replaced the metal bands with brackets that are bonded directly to the front of the teeth. These brackets are much smaller, less noticeable and more comfortable.
It's amazing how far your teeth can be moved by orthodontic procedures. Shifting your teeth into proper alignment actually causes structural changes in the surrounding bone, improving dental aesthetics, and the overall look of your smile.
Some children have naturally straight teeth, others are not so lucky. The size of your children's teeth and how they fit together are inherited traits. So are malocclusions. Malocclusion is the dental term that literally translates as 'bad bite'. Orthodontics work to correct these malocclusions by bring your child's teeth into proper alignment.
If your child requires orthodontics we will recommend when to start treatment based on their growth and development. Early treatment can prevent more extensive and costly treatment later when your child becomes an adult.
Correcting your child's bite through orthodontic treatment can improve their dental health, and has the added bonus of boosting self-confidence and creating a terrific looking smile.Dr. Freedman would be pleased to talk to you about the benefits of orthodontics (braces) at our Bloor Dental Clinic next time you are in to see us.
