July 2018: Tips, eNews & More!

Happy Canada Day

Summer is in full swing and if you have kids at home, they are more than likely rolling out of bed later than usual in the mornings. It's easy to give them a sugary bowl of cereal and get on with the day, but that's not doing them any good - for their oral health and overall health. Try including fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, and eggs as part of your kids' and your entire family's meal plan. It cuts down on artificial sugar and provides a good source of protein and other benefits. Any kind of sugary snack also causes tooth decay so make sure they brush their teeth before bed too.

Are you looking for exciting things to do this summer? If you love art, you will love the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. If you're a foodie, there's always the annual Summerlicious. Click here for a list of events and festivals near you!

We hope you are enjoying your summer. In your fun-filled schedule, don't forget to book an appointment.

Learn to Speak Dental!

Our dental term of the month is: ABFRACTION

Abfraction is the loss of tooth structure which is not caused by tooth decay (non-carious cervical lesions). It is suggested that these lesions are caused by forces placed on the teeth during biting, eating, chewing and grinding; the enamel undergoes large amounts of stress, causing micro fractures and tooth tissue loss. Abfractions are mainly caused by bruxing (clenching) and can lead to cold sensitivity. Come in to find out if we can help remove the cause of this breakdown and let us restore the tooth back to its normal shape.
